The Ruined Girl - Page of Wands rx

She breaks my heart.

The Page of Wands in reverse is a very damaged soul. At such a young age, this Spirit should be too young and naive to be this bent. Unfortunately, I would have to summarize that this little Page has seen more than most at a very young age, and has reverted into his or her shell to avoid further pain.

The scary thing about our Page of Wands rx, Cosette (as referenced from Les Misérable), is her lack of life experience to properly deal with and see that tomorrow can be better. Tomorrow can be different.

Strickingly opposite from her right-side self, our little Cosette does not see how she can defend herself from the terrors in her world. She does not have the independence to see past the dust brought up from her broom. She lives in a world of victimhood where she does not use her voice to say enough. When beaten, she does not fight back. She lives in her head, her intelligence a secret. She can dream of a better tomorrow, but believes it is only that. A dream. Sticks and stones, do break he bones. And names... become reality.

Of all my Pages in rx, I do believe that the Page of Wands can make the most dramatic of changes. Robert Graves says it best. 

"To bring the dead to life is not great magic.

Few are wholly dead:

Blow on a dead man's embers and a live flame will start"

In my earlier post about the Page of Wands, I included the video of Annie singing 'Tomorrow'. Here, you will see, Cosette, and notice that their actual life circumstances are quite similar. The difference being, however, how each child embraces their future. Where Annie believes she is the captain of her own future, Cosette is resigned to living in her head.

Page of Wands - General Meaning

Sarah comes out the womb kicking and screaming... anxious to start living life to the fullest. She follows the light, and is convinced that the answers can be found by searching the stars.

Naturally connected to Spirit, this young page is full of energy and belief. Belief in humanity, society and spirituality. Communicating these beliefs with others fuels her fire, and when she learns something new she is the first to run out and learn more about it.

A piece of quiet time does her well, but only when she's tired of running her mouth and trying to mentally solve the worlds problems. As soon as she's aerated her little fire, she's right back at it, her energy like fiery little bouncy curls, untameable and full of life. She's quick to start and quick to learn. This is important, because she tends to let her emotion and intuition set her on course and needs to rely on her ability to learn from her mistakes so she can move on at a pace and speed she needs to.

Even early on, she is a leader. Always looking to teach and tell. The spirit to move and travel, is a strong pull inside her. If she can't physically make the move, for financially travel... she will dive into books, documentaries, anything that can take her where her heart longs, she'll get her hands on and fill her heart with the mysteries and magic of the world.

She's the little girl you find in the library, reading well beyond her years. Offering to open doors for the elderly. Beating down the bully, and the first to offer a shoulder to cry on.

Benny be Bad - Behaviour of the Page of Cups Reverse

You know who he is... Benny. 

Most of us have had a Benny in our lives. You know, the one that just can't shut up. Is completely inappropriate at all times. Suffers from prolonged teenage angst. Starting to sound familiar?

Consider these settings as it relates to Benny:

Celtic Dragon Tarot ~ PoC rev

A surprise baby shower is being held for one of your co-workers. You know, the quite little cute one who sits in the corner, does her work, and really truly never utters a bad word about anyone or anything? She's kinda that churchy, 'I'm most looking forward to taking my baby to story time at the library', sweet thing. Everyone is eating cake, she's rubbing her belly shy like and a bit embarrassed by all the attention. In comes Benny, late of course, full of pomp. "So Lydia, I was talking to a friend who said her baby's head was so big she teared from front to back. Doesn't having your woohoo stitched up scare the shit out of you?"

Crickets.

The family is having a get together to discuss an aging grandparent's dimensia. They're considering bringing him home to live until the progression of the ailment gets to much for them to handle. They'd like to be around during the onset of the disease, to ease the transition of the grandfather, making him a 'new' addition to the family setting. A setting of which the 22 year old Benny still finds himself in as he hasn't quite embraced taking care of himself yet.  "Do what ever you want. Just remember he's your responsibility not mine. And for the record, I'm not giving up my bedroom."

Crickets.

Benny and Sue have been in a relationship for  almost a year. They met the first week of college and seem to have hit it off. Sue, being super busy with her studies, didn't mind the lack of quality time as it allowed her to focus on her studies and maintain a relationship without the guilt of having to decide between good grades and quality time with her man. At first, she thought his giving her space was cute, and endearing. She realizes that Benny's abscence might have been more selfish than she'd like to admit. "Listen Sue, we didn't spend that much time together before. School's out, so what? That doesn't mean we need to spend more time together now. Get over it."

Crickets

Benny's friend is having his bachelor party. They've reserved a VIP at the local club. Boys will be boys, and they're definitely living up to being boys. As the night progresses, Benny is living it up a little more than the rest. As is his nature when things aren't about him, he will find away to make sure at some point his presence will be talked about and remembered. Bachelor boy is starting to wind down, and the 'boys' are getting ready to go home. Just as they get ready to leave, in comes the waitress with trays full of shooters. It doesn't take long to figure out where they came from... "Ladies, my boy is getting married... shooters for the ladies who can remind him what he's giving up!" says Benny who's managed to convince the DJ to give him some airtime.

Crickets.
Sheer Madness.

He's a pest. And he's a pain. And yet, people still want him around. Benny has a few lessons to learn, obviously. But more importantly, the PoC rev needs to get to the root of what is causing him conflict and emotional pain. There is a reason for his behaviour, and although it's tough to ride it out, patience with this one will pay off in the long run.

Cupcakes & Page of Cups

To sit down with my dear sweet friend, the Page of Cups, fills my heart and makes me long for the days filled with untarnished dreams. There is an air of excitement about her, but she keeps to herself at first, watching the passers by as she collects her thoughts. She's working on something, I can see it in her eyes. The early morning sun, surrounded by a dose of signature Capital humidity has her captivated and inspired. I can't wait to see how this early morning meeting is going to transform into a glorious new cupcake.

The PoC on work, health, love, lifestyle and spiritual direction

IS: From the PMO's office to cupcake aficionado. How?

Paige: Right? It was one of those things that could never be planned for. I mean I dreamed about it all the time, having my own cupcakery... but I'm a Poli Sci grad who's supposed to be following in the footsteps of my parents. (Sigh) What a waste of money, but it taught me discipline I guess...

 She stares off for a minute, a flash of insecurity colours her cheeks.

Paige: Anyways, we were having a pre-Canada Day function in the office and were asked to bring in some snacks and stuff. I love baking, and cupcakes are my favourite, so I simply made a batch thinking absolutely nothing of it. It was my contribution for the day... maple cinnamon with red and white icing. The staff went crazy for them, and I just started getting requests... my daughter's birthday, a school function for my son, fundraiser... a friend of a friend event. And then I got a request to bake for a wedding party of 200, she wanted 5 different original flavours... and that is how my career ended and started.

IS: All that baking and sampling, and yet you look incredible!

Paige: Ha, thanks for noticing. This is a brand new body, trust me. Again, one of those random meetings that's changed me physically. A new Cross Fit type gym put an order request for their Grand Opening, this was a tricky one as the cakes needed to be super healthy and still yummy. I made their cakes and they offered my to try a class. I've been hooked ever since. Never done anything like this but I'm always up for trying something new!

IS: Are you sharing this journey with anyone special?

Her eyes light up in a magical way, and the excitement of young love, palpable.

Paige: I just started dating him and he's amazing. We literally ran into each other at the library, can you imagine? Like old school fairytale kinda stuff. I was going through a bunch of art history books, just looking for ideas you know. It was raining out, not much else to do... whatever. I didn't realize I barricaded the aisle, and he was trying to get through. He helped me move the books, but ended up spending the rest of the afternoon with me on the floor of the library.

IS: So what are your plans from here?

Paige: Plans? As in structured, concrete plans? Yah right... I go where the day takes me. Money or not, I let the ride of life take me. I believe that whereever I am, I'm meant to be. I'll figure it out once I get there.

IS: You mentioned that your education has helped you with discipline, and yet you seem so free spirited.

Paige: True. I see what you're getting at, but here's the thing. I live for the moment, but I also experience the moment and take in each lesson as it presents itself. I listen. I think that's one of my strong points. For example, remember the wedding lady that changed my life? I didn't know how the hell I was going to come up with all of these unique ideas and flavours. I mean, really, I was baking from my mom's kitchen, with no professional experience or qualifications at all. I wanted to tell her, remind her of my amature'ness. Instead, I kept my mouth shut and listened to every single word and detail she gave me. I went home, researched and looked up everything I could on flavour pairing and a bunch of other boring baking stuff. I didn't quit until I had what she wanted. That's what discipline helped me with. I'm good at flying by the seat of my pants because I have a solid foundation.

IS: Where do you go from here?

Paige: I don't know, but there is a change in the wind. I can feel it in every bone of my body. I can sense things, you know what I mean? I knew a walk down the red velvet road  with blinders on was going to pan out. Just like I know things are about to get big and fast. I don't know how or when, I just know it will. I'm preparing myself the best I can. But like I said before, I have a solid foundation. So when it comes charging at me, I say bring it!

O Romeo, Wherefore art thou my Page of Cups?

He's a bit of a romantic fellow isn't he, this Page of Cups? Yes he is and that's what makes him my favourite Page. That and his perfume is Indigo kinda makes me partial ;)

I've heard it said that he might be a bit of a drunk or likes his drink, as if not so harsh... I don't so much disagree as believe that maybe he is drunk on love, life and dramatics. Immediately this little fellow makes me think of Romeo. Not just any Romeo, but Leonardo Di Caprio's version to be exact. There is a specific scene that came to me, almost instantly. Warning: as a young lady growing up in the early '90s, you may feel that ol' familiar heart thump, break and ache.

I mean really, even the fact that they share this moment with a wall of water and these beautiful exotic fish (side note ~ PoC is of the Pisces/Scorpio family), my dear sweet Romeo exudes Earth of Water. Creative and spontaneous, expect this little guy to show up anywhere at anytime, ready to go. He isn't flashy, he isn't loud. He's just ready. With him everything is a beautiful quiet adventure. Mystery and magic around every corner. Time best spent with him, is time unplanned. Just show up. Truly. And let him lead the way. You're guaranteed an adventure.

Expressive. The page of cups is full of charge. He's the boy who's apartment has drop sheets hanging from every crevasse, each littered with paint & screaming with vision. If he's late for dinner, he'll show up with flowers and paint in his hair. It will make your heart melt. He's not shy about his love for the stars, nor his desire to write poetry. Don't be surprised if he's got a book full of you before the second date. When he hurts, stand back, look out and be ready to wipe a tear. He feels deep and it sucks you in.

He's an amazing listener. If you're talking about your dreams and desires, he'll hold your hand and stare at you like you're the best thing ever. Incapable of judgement, he is full of young love and believes perfect is just around every corner. He is gentle, and will not laugh at the things you believe. If he doesn't quite understand or agree, he'll just ask you to talk more, explain it again, until he gets it.

If the PoC happens to be about you, YaY for you!!! Expect the unexpected and enjoy the ride as you embark on an amazing and new fun filled energetic and creative opportunity. A new commission, a lead role in a play... what ever it is, it will be a new creative project.

Even more great news if paired with the Empress and or 9 of Pentacles and or the 3 of cups... it's baby making time!

Around the Tarot in 78 Days

To confirm my understanding of the role the PoS has within my tarot lessons, I decided to pull a companion card, in which I pulled the VII of Swords. At first glance it seemed the two ideas conflicted, but I just recently learned about shifting the positive/concept in what may seem a challenging or negative card.

While the PoS is about clarity, decisiveness and swiftly moving forward with focus... VIIoS is more about finding alternative paths and keeping an open mind when things aren't as focused or clear as you'd like them to be. Basically, it supports having a back up plan.

The lesson?

Clear Thought + Focused Decision = Dynamic Outcome

When you have your mind set on something, do you allow for alternate considerations?
Does the idea of going with the flow frighten you?

Page of Swords and His Elements

Interestingly enough, I danced around the idea of making Charlie Sheen my PoS in rev., in the end, he was just to old, to much experience, his life a little more traveled. In theory many of the prinicples run true with his persona, addiction, enormous talent, boredom, gossip, spiteful, mean. When in his mood, he definitely can definitely display bully behaviour.

You can't focus if you're asleep. The Page of Swords tells us to wake up and focus. Keep a sharp eye on what is in front, beside and behind us. Blade pointing forward, it is an excellent card to pull when wondering if you're in the right direction. Slice your way through the debris of messy thoughts, trust your instinct, and move forward on a path you create. PoS has a hint of independence, an individual journey maker with apt, ability and intelligence. Just be mindful of downtime, and activity that seems or feels beneath you as you may fall into the trap of idle hands. The PoS is a time of learning and being the vigilant student, which really can be for any age. Know what you're getting into before you move forward, because there is nothing worse than being hit in the face by a branch that snaps back.


Find yourself face to face with a gossip hag, or maybe you yourself have an issue with loose lips? No worries, a sliver of Slippery Elm will help you manage your tongue, and/or keep you out the slimy words of others. Historically used to help with diarrhea, I guess it can't help but 'heal' Nasty Nancy's verbal diarrhea.

Magick Note: Tie a few leaves with a yellow cord or string and burn it off to ward any ill words against you.

Lepidolite, a "stone of transition" is perfect for PoS as it is a crystal that encourages independence, achieving goals, concentration and objectivity. It helps with making speedy decisions, a quality that PoS is known for, and why people will go to him for leadership and guidance. Focusing on the necessary, Lepidolite, like the the sword, cuts through the BS and gets to the point. A calming stone, it frees you from the influences and voices of others, immunizing you from outside hurts and negativity.

I can't move forward. I'm stuck. Am I surprised? No, I've been playing in the Page of Swords in Reverses' sandbox. For now we'll just call her Nasty Nancy.

Nasty Nancy and I have been friends for as long as I can remember. I've always had an attraction to strays, maybe, in away, I've always kind of felt like a stray ?!? I think I just had a real time #magickmoment

I feel like a stray. How powerful and potentially life changing. The admittance of it, heavy in my belly, with an 'of course' stuck in my throat. Interesting. Another blog for another day.

The deck I am working with and learning from is the one for me as I so relate with the images. Nasty Nancy and I share one really bad habit. Saying we're going to do one thing, and doing something else. Something that doesn't necessarily get in the way, but it doesn't move us forward. In fact, I am very good and saying I'm going to do the same thing over and over and over again, but I will find a million different things to do which get in the way of doing what I want. With a bolt of lightnening over my shoulder, it could very well be that I'm afraid. Afraid of following the direction I'm pointing at with my sword. It's almost like holding the sword by it's blade instead of it's hilt and wondering why the hell am I bleeding all the time.

If I held on to my words properly, I'd avoid having to self medicate all the time, which in my case is finding something else to do. What a vicious cycle.

Like the mushrooms Nasty Nancy likes to play with... you know you're not supposed to eat them, but why not when they make you feel so good? Why not say I'm going to do this that or the other? It makes me feel like I'm important, like I'm successful, like I'm the one on top... literally. But boy when the buzz of the 'shrooms wear off, and you need to eat the words you let come out your mouth... It's a quick and painful crash, driving you to look for that next high, that next excuse, the next whatever you can grasp (the wrong side of the sword). That way when someone asks you how it's going, you have your reason, excuse, sob story. Basically your lie ready and bleeding.

The sword and lightening also remind me that Nasty Nancy believes in a bright and shinny future, but she just can't let go of that dark and stormy past. The thunder rolls in faster and is more powerful than the sun. [Insert I for she] There are moments where I know where I need to be and what needs getting done. Yet within a split second I'm cursing someone out, blaming someone for where I am, and desperately looking for a fight. And trust me, I am literally holding the sword with both hands as I aim at my opponent. Figuratively, I'm holding the damn thing straight at my spirit, reminding it to stay inside and back off.

I call this Spiritual Cutting. I'm am not one for physically hurting myself. But, slashing and thrashing at my Spirit? All day long... no one can see it, therefore, I am alone in the shame and agony of not having the confidence I once had. (If you've been paying attention, you'll see how I just Nasty Nancy'd).

We teach our children everyday not to play with sharp objects, and yet, here we are with a Page of Swords swinging at heart's content. Without the emotional skill and maturity... how on earth do we expect this little friend to carve an appropriate path? Nasty Nancy just wants to play, by her rules... and we've given her a very sharp object to play with. Someone is going to get hurt. Obviously. Not so obvious is when Nasty Nancy herself is going to hurt herself.

It may be why I liken this card to Lindsay Lohan. So talented and able... with access to whatever she wants. If the maturity wasn't there, what did we think would happen? As compared to our Karate Kid, the outcome could have been the same. If a young spirit is trained in martial arts, he must be nurtured and educated. Taught that his skill is his tool instead his weapon. Lindsay's talent is a weapon. Nasty Nancy's sword is a weapon. The ego of my past is my weapon.


In each case, there is a shelter. Within that shelter, Nasty Nancy will either create an Ivory League setting for learning... or a shelter of mass destruction with consequences she is to young to comprehend. I'd like to think that my shelter still has a line drawn in the sand between both worlds where I'll eventually make a permanent cross over from the dark side )o(

Page of Swords? Try again!

Around the Tarot in 78 Days ~ The Page of Swords

So I really thought I figured this one out. As it turns out, not so much. I learned a lesson though, when journeying through tarot, it is your journey to make, not someone else's. They may have good ideas, especially when you feel like you've done everything you can to figure something out and they come up with what seems a plausible answer within seconds. It is well worth your time to take in the advice/offer/insight. Ultimately though, it is a better use of your time if you exhale and wait until you feel the answer in your gutt.

Prince William? Totally made sense... and then it didn't. And then it did ~ and then it didn't. You know the cycle. We've all been through it, and when we're good done and tired of going through it, we whole heartily embrace it.

And then one day, while you're in the shower and you go to turn the heat up, and a spider crosses your hand, you have a #magicmoment and there in your minds eye is Jaden Smith as 'Dre Parker' AKA The Karate Kid. Yes, you are allowed to have your "of course"... I know I did :)

For my own reasons, I am leaving my older post up as it is a lesson. Spirit always has a reason... I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough.  In the meantime, I've re-posted my understanding of the Page of Sword's in effort to justify my own flip flop on this one. First thing I noticed was my original opening sentence... yes another #magicmoment

*Let's take a step back and assess the situation*

The Page of Swords brings wonder and opportunity. Big ideas and full of life, PoS is captivating and always very ready share what he knows. Always ready to learn more, and make a difference he is also a very social little friend.

As I breathe in his image and exhale the spirit that comes to me, I know him as Michael, a young leader. Someone that people will come to and follow. Not blindly, because he is thorough and smart. Even though he has a quick and youthful energy, he is organized, calculated. Michael will always be asking 'what to do I need to do, what do I need to know'.

Prepared and trained, Michael is not necessarily one of those 'natural talents'. His successes are earned because he focused on and found a way to achieve them. What I like about Michael is that he is already learning the importance of 'working smart not hard'.

A few keys words associated with PoS: Diplomacy, vigilant, observant, logical, intelligent, loyal and thoughtful. As with all pages, travel is another aspect to consider.


Dre is a social chatty little kid, always asking why and relentless when waiting for an answer. He is willing to keep coming back to learn, even if it seems silly in the beginning, he has enough sense to know he needs to stick it through in order to 'see'. He's a sweet, generous, and smart boy, who loves his friends, his master and most importantly his mother.
